Panic Mode: This is a topic of shame that even in the 21st century, we are talking about crimes based on gender. And this is not a problem of a single country or continent. Crime against women is all over the world in less or more amounts.
In India, the incidents of sexual harassment against girls have almost doubled in the last 17 years. And this is extremely horrible. The number of sexual harassment incidents was 16,075 and this increased by 32,559 in 2017.
While the total number of incidents reported in these 17 years is 4,15,786. And this is not the actual figure of incidents because we all know that there are thousands of incidents especially in rural areas that don’t even report.
If we calculate average incidents then it is 67 rapes per day and this was 76 in 2017. This means one woman is being raped every 20 minutes. And that’s why girls’ safety is extremely important.
